After its hugely-successful 2015 launch, and with the continued sponsorship of Helion & Company Ltd, Leicester’s free-to-attend Military History Live once again returns on Saturday 18 June to the Adult Education building on bustling Belvoir Street with a full programme of events.
Covering the last 500 years, Military History Live 2016 provides an opportunity to discover Leicester’s involvement in these conflicts – the part played by its soldiers and those left behind on the home front.
‘Café conversations’ about internment, conscientious objectors, Prisoners of War, those who were shot at dawn for desertion or cowardice in the First World War, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), are among the compelling discussions set to take place.
The full programme includes two book launches and illustrated talks, which will especially be of interest to those studying these subjects.
Whether you have an existing passion for military history or you are looking to discover more about your own family’s involvement, this is a must-attend event.
Bring your family mementoes along to let our experts tell you more about them, and be guided through the archives available online to aid your own research.
Discuss military campaigns with re-enactors who are enthusiastic hobbyists and willing to share their knowledge.
